Did You Know?
Painting seems like the quintessential DIY project, but there is more to it than meets the eye!
You can learn more here.
What's the deal with lead paint?

Lead is a heavy metal that is toxic if ingested or inhaled. It is particularly dangerous to children and pregnant women. And it used to be a common paint additive. So why was it in paint in the first place? Lead made paint dry faster and increased durability, but its teratogenic effects outweigh its advantages. If your home was built before 1978, there may be lead in the paint, and once lead paint starts to deteriorate, the dust and chips are toxic. As part of our services, Creative Painting will always conduct a reliable test for lead in your home so you can know for sure.

Latex vs. Oil Paint?
What is the difference between latex and oil-based paints? Which is better? How can I tell which I have? They both add color to your life, so what is the difference? It all comes down to a few key factors: drying time, ease of cleanup, cost, and durability.
Oil-based paints are durable, stick better, hide better, and level better, giving a smoother finish. They resist moisture, and an open can won’t dry out as fast. However, they yellow with age, take a longer time to dry, are hard to clean up, and have more VOCs (chemical outgassing).
Latex paint is less likely to crack or to yellow over time, cleans up with water, dries fast, and has low odor. Most importantly it dries faster! You can’t leave the can open for long, but you can move your furniture back a lot sooner!
Creative Painting can help you figure out which kind is best for your project.
